THE PLOT

After years of war, Japan has finally been united under one Emperor. The assassination of the almighty Arata Yamazaki, Japan’s previous ruler, left the country in ruins for years. The cities were ravaged by famine and drought, and many lives were lost. It was only when young prince Haru stepped up to take the throne that things began to settle down again. He guided the empire back from the darkness with the help of his advisors, slowly forging better living conditions, allowing the people of Japan to finally feel safe.

However, this utopian era could not last. Something has awakened an evil that has lain dormant for decades, the Demon Lord Orochi. Unknown to the emperor, Orochi has watched his progress and the expansion of his Kingdom from the moment it was united, and now desires the Emperor's throne, believing that only he is mighty enough to rule Japan. He has not struck yet, but he bides his time, plotting and scheming against the newly united Japan, gathering other demons to his cause. It is only a matter of time before he decides to lead his army against the Emperor's, and when that day comes, Japan will be at war once again. People have began to worry as more demons make themselves known, raiding the villages, slaughtering innocent people.

HARU YAMADA (THE EMPEROR)

The emperor is a peaceful man, a person who is easy to get along with. He is young at heart, and likes to have fun. Sometimes his carefree personality causes anxiety among the people, and they worry that their ruler is still a child. Despite what the citizens think, the king is very smart. He is wise and insightful, having a great understanding of life.


SHO MATSUO (THE ADVISOR)

The royal advisor aids the emperor in major decisions. He can be controlling at times, and a little power hungry. He is a strong man, someone who will not back down in the face of danger. He is hot-headed and has a bad temper. He is a decent man though, and he wishes for the best for the country and the people in it, doing all he can to assist the childish emperor. He harbors secret feelings for Japan's leader, though he keeps these a secret, knowing how wrong it would be to confess to such a thing.


KURAI SASAKI (THE PRIESTESS)

The Priestess is a very kindhearted woman. She does whatever she can to help those who come to her for advice, offering them her wisdom. She has the ability to communicate with spirits of the dead, and with great concentration she can resurrect people, calling their spirits from the Netherworld and returning them to their bodies.


OROCHI HAYATA (THE DEMONLORD)

Orochi is an evil demonlord who often takes the form of a hideous snake. He is extremely power hungry and has had his eye set on the throne of the empire for a long time, scheming on how to take it for his own. He is cruel and bloodthirsty, and will kill in order to achieve this goal. He is currently trying to recruit other demons to assist him in his plotting.



In the Japanese Empire you may have:

Humans - The majority of the population. They aren't overly special, excluding the ones that have special powers like priestesses and monks. They are the weakest and most common race.

Demons - Usually an evil entity. They can take the guise of a human being or their demon form. There are animal demons such as fox and wolf demons, and then there are elemental demons, such as fire and shadow demons. These demons usually specialize in one power.

Half-demons - The offspring of a demon and a human. They generally have the strength of the demon parent and the looks of the human parent. They don't have a demon guise, and they are only half as strong. Also, for one night each month they lose their demonic powers and become human.


These are occupations your character may have:

Villagers
They are just ordinary humans. They have no powers or mystical abilities.

Priestesses
They can have many different types of powers. Some of them can control the elements while others can vanquish demons. They have the power to purify any object.

Monks
Some are just simple warriors, while others have spiritual powers for vanquishing demons.

Assassins
They are paid to kill others. This is how they make their living. They are very secretive figures.

Ninjas
They are trained from an early age and often live in small tribes. Although some of their tricks may resemble magic, they have no powers, just the ability to deceive.

Samurai
Traditional Japanese warriors trained in the art of wielding a katana. They have a very strict code of honor.

Demon Slayers
Their job is to hunt and slay demons to make the land safer. They are similar to an assassin, except it is only demons they kill.

Wanderers
They are humans or demons who wander the land with no real purpose. They are often seeking for meaning in life.
