It was a cloudy day. The sky, which was usually beautiful and blue, was covered in grey clouds, dark and lifeless. Thunder rumbled quietly in the distance, signaling the approach of a storm, a common occurrence in early winter. The atmosphere was dull, the outside temperature a bit chilly, and most people had decided to stay inside for the day, snuggled up in front of their fireplaces. It wasn't cold enough to snow yet, but it was slowly getting there. Even the animals of the forest had gone into hiding, the woods eerily silent. All the birds had disappeared from the trees, their cheerful song no longer echoing through the woods.
The only sound was the wind, which whispered through the branches of the trees, rustling the dying leaves, swaying the tree limbs that looked like skeleton arms. The forest was seemingly empty, and if one did not look closely they would probably overlook the girl. Although her golden-colored hair stood out in the otherwise dreary landscape, surprisingly bright, she was sitting rather high, hidden well by the branches of the tree. She was perched on one of the limbs, her feet dangling carelessly over the edge. The breeze blew, ruffling her long hair, whipping it around in all directions. She swayed with the wind, back and forth, back and forth.
Thunder sounded again, this time closer. The girl’s lips parted, a quiet sigh escaping from her mouth. She tilted her head back, inhaling deeply, a smile lighting her features. Oh, how she loved the rain. Unlike most of the women in the nearby city, she didn't mind getting wet, getting her clothes dirty. She liked the sound the water made as it fell from the sky, finding it calming, soothing, a lullaby. Happy with the gloomy weather, she began to hum. It was a rather sad melody, lonely, one that didn't match the happy smile on her face. The song drifted through the trees, gently breaking the silence. [/blockquote]

The sky was dark, the clouds loomed over the surroundings, waiting for the rain to fall, lightning filled the sky, and thunder rumbled in the distance, a storm was brewing and it was close. Yet what was a bit of rain? nothing to someone such as Kaname. He was tall, his long shadow loomed over the forest floor, elongating himself further. Kaname, was out on one of his usual daily activities, truthfully it was a nose around, to see what was happening, what was going on and if anything of interest was occurring. Sadly nothing prevails as even remotely interesting. So, the tall figure walked on, wrapped in his long black coat, a small shield from the bitter winds that stirred the debris, and other foliage that scattered the floor. He glanced up, the moon was only faintly visible through the thick haze of clouds, night had approached so fast. So much so Kaname was beginning to loose time, he had watched the world go by, and having gotten so used to it, he had blanked it, and rendered himself oblivious to such things.
His feet moved silently along the forest floor, although no wildlife sounded. The odd twitter of a bird clung to the air, mixed with the hoot of the occasional owl, even the very faint stirring of leaves as small rodent like creatures gathered what they could, winter was upon them he was surprised to see such a small thing out and about. Wondering on, he passed several bushes and trees, that still clung to their beauty. Roses, dotted a bush in the distant concealed by the thick over hanging branches of broken trees. Idly Kaname stepped over a fallen log, his move elegant and swift. Before long he stood before the bush, there was only a few surviving roses now that he looked closer, reaching past the tendrils of the trees, through the maze of dead leaves, he reached out a long elegant hand and plucked a single red rose, it's thorn cut into his skin, yet he didn't mind, why should he? Turning away he wounded on, admiring the rose that was at it's peak, the once green leaves had shriveled and the rose it's self looked slightly dull in colour.
Switching hand Kaname brought his bloody hand up to his pale, perfect lips, and sipped the spoiled blood, it seemed stupid to waste it. When the droplets of blood had gone from his hand, they stained the Roses stem. Before he smiled idly, the corners of his lips lifting into something both cruel yet charming in it's own way. "Oh rose, thou art sick. The invisible worm that flies in the night, in the howling storm. Has found out thy bed of crimson joy, and his dark secret love does they life destroy." he commented, it wasn't unheard of for Kaname to speak to himself, it provided some form of comfort odd as it seemed. With that, the rose wilted, the last of it's life drained, it had been touched by hands. Hands of death. Bringing the dead rose to his nose, he inhaled it softly the scent still remained, as did the sharpness of it's thorns.
It was then he heard a distant sound a gentle humming that covered the distance. Looking up and ahead, he listened closer, and idly begun to wonder in the direction of an almost angelic voice. As he walked he picked at the roses petal with his long fingers, until there was no more petals left, he tossed the rose aside without a care and continued on. Until he breached a small clearing there, there was no one in sight yet the sound of humming was louder, looking around he listened intently until he spotted swinging legs. So this was the being who was humming? her hair shone in the fading moon's light damp with moisture that lingered in the nights air. He watched for a moment before he silently approached and stood slightly beneath the large tree "You know, a girl like you, shouldn't really be in a place like this..and all alone, and at such a height you might..fall" he stated, his tone was soft, clam, yet elegant, it carried across the short distance as it danced along with the wind, till it found her ears, a gentle caress of words. Yet his words were spread out, to sounder longer a pause between a few words to give the sense of mystery.

“You know, a girl like you, shouldn't really be in a place like this..and all alone, and at such a height you might..fall.”
The wind carried a voice up to the girl in the tree. It was soft spoken, quiet, an air of mystery to it. Anna was instantly alert again, and her humming came to an abrupt stop, the melancholy melody faltering. A voice? She tilted her head, angling it downward, trying to see who had spoken, who would be out during this unpleasant weather. She narrowed her eyes, gazing off into the darkness of the forest. It seemed that she had been lost in her own world for longer than she thought, as the sun had now set, the moon taking its place. Through the foggy atmosphere, she could just make out the figure of a young man standing below the tree. She waited, watching, very alert, and slowly the mist began to clear away.
In the light of the moon there stood a man. Had the air not been so damp, she might have been able to pick up his scent, been able to tell that he wasn’t a human, that he was something more. Unfortunately, the humidity and fog that hung in the air dampened her usually sharp senses. Not that knowing what he really was would have bothered her anyway. She was practically fearless, and it took more than a stray vampire to scare her.
“Oh, shouldn’t I?” Anna asked, lifting an eyebrow questioningly. Her voice was soft and gentle like a song, but it held a note of challenge to it, as if daring the man to tell her otherwise. Yes, she was a girl, but she wasn’t just any girl. She wasn’t as weak as she looked, and she was far from helpless. She had been warned of these things before. She was always told not to venture into the forest. It had always been that way, ever since she was young. They told her dreadful stories of the terrifying beasts that lived in the woods and preyed on the villagers, the ones that stole young children from their beds at night. None of this bothered Anna though. No, not anymore. She was probably one of the most dangerous things in the forest, on the top of the food chain. Despite her innocent appearance, she was capable of great destruction. So, really, what did she have to fear?
“And I will not fall,” Anna added defiantly, and a sly smile tugged at her lips. To add dramatic effect to her words, she leaned back on the branch she was sitting on. For a heartbeat, it looked like she was actually going to fall, just drop off the branch backward, but at the last moment, she caught herself. Anna tightened her grip on the tree limb again, quickly straightening back up, and a quiet giggle escaped her lips. She seemed pleased with her little charade. Any other girl in a dress like this would probably have had great difficulty climbing the tree, but not Anna. “That was close,” she said with a grin, a teasing tone to her words. She had always been a little rowdy, one of the ‘boys’ as her parents had used to say. Climbing trees was easy, a simple and mundane task, something she did almost every day. She would not do something as stupid as let herself fall…
The thunder rumbled again, seeming to shake the earth this time. Anna flinched at the loud noise, glancing up at the sky. She didn’t mind the rain, but thunder was another story. It was so loud and irritating. Alas, you could not have one without the other, and so she would have to deal with the loud booms in order to enjoy the peacefulness of the rain.

Kaname waited silently his head only bent slightly up wards to look to the girl in question, although he smelt no fear, she was either brave or very foolish, or perhaps something entirely different. When she spoke, her tone was sharp, challenging. A girl without fear so it would appear how interesting, but he would soon change that if needs be, but he was not looking for a fight. Instead he simply smiled, the corner of his mouth lifted, and a sharp tip of his fang became visible, a small warning. That he was not one to be tested.
"I suggest you come down...you might just fall, or hurt yourself..and we can't have that now, can we?" He stated, his tone held the same smooth sleek air about it, drawing out his words, to appear almost as if he was dreaming, talking to no one other than himself. And I will not fall, The girl stated, half demanding him to believe this, he watched silently before the girl made a fools gesture and pretended that she would indeed fall, and even if she did fall what was it to him? It would of been her own reckless fault, and it would be a waste of blood, so he would only have to clean it up.
The girl in question was a nuisance, that was clear, a drama queen if ever he had seen such one, he wondered if she did fear, if it was possible, with another smirk, He focused his gaze onto the tree branch on which she sat, and not a moment to soon, the branch begun to snap, perhaps it would teach her a lesson, the creaking of the branch sounded again any moment and it would fall. "Now, little girl, I suggest you come down...We don't want to see that precious little body of yours all grazed now do we?" Kaname continued with another smile, both fangs visible this time.
If she was not scared he'd make her one way or enough, it was simply a delight of his he enjoyed it far to much. Again the branch creaked, one more gesture and the whole branch would fall the girl included. He wondered faintly just what she was, she wasn't human that much was obvious, a human would certainly not be as foolish, then again he could be wrong, there had been several episodes, where humans seemed to have no brain at all. The wind stirred again carrying leaves, and other bits swirling around, yet Kaname stood their calm and oblivious to all that was happening, a storm was certainly brewing.
Just then the wind carried a scent, a scent he detected though the heavy air, but only faintly. No she wasn't human, he had been correct. Yet the scent was both repulsive and intriguing, she was a werewolf, although she was young, it was no surprise. There had been a large increase in the dogs as of late, they were breeding like rabbits, and biting like a rabid animal. Still he waited silently he didn't like to be ignored.

Suddenly, a sharp cracking noise echoed through the air. It took Anna a few moments to figure out what it was, but when she did, her eyes widened in disbelief. “No way,” she whispered, feeling the branch under her began to shift, as if it were about to fall. Her grip on the tree limb instinctively tightened, her fingernails daggering hard into the bark. Maybe if she was vey still, it would stop. The branch had seemed sturdy when she had perched herself on it, more than thick enough to hold her weight. She didn’t understand what was happening right now. Was the wood rotten or something? Maybe all the rain they’d been having lately had softened the bark…
“Now, little girl, I suggest you come down...We don't want to see that precious little body of yours all grazed now do we?”
Anna looked down at the man below her nervously. Why wasn’t he freaking out?! Hadn’t he heard that crack? Anna opened her mouth, about to call down to him, but at that moment the branch shifted again, a loud splitting sound erupted from the wood beneath her. Anna let out a little squeak, feeling the branch began to tip, separate from the tree, and then, as the last threads of bark pulled apart, she hurled herself from the falling branch. She leapt from it just as it separated from the trunk of the tree, falling with it as it plummeted to the ground. On her way down, she managed to land atop another branch, one a little closer to the ground. Unfortunately, this tree limb was much thinner and it couldn’t hold her weight. Only seconds after her feet hit it, it snapped, giving way, and she was once again falling.
Somehow, Anna managed to land on her feet, probably because she was something more than human. She had dropped a long way though, and she hit the ground at a funny angle. She heard a quiet cracking sound, similar to that of the tree branch snapping, and she gasped as pain shot through her ankle. She slowly slumped down to her knees, unable to support her full weight.
Anna remained like that for a few long moments, breathing hard as she recovered from the incident, crouched on her knees with her pastel colored dress spilling out around her. She turned her gaze up, seeing if the man was still there. He was. Her honey brown eyes met his dark ones, and her expression formed into a glare. What…what a creep! Had he seriously just stood there the entire time? Why hadn’t he tried to catch her? If she had been a human, she could have died! Or at least gotten seriously injured. Had he seriously just been planning on watching her fall and hit the ground without even making a move to help? “Thanks for catching me,” she growled sarcastically. She frowned at his apathy.
“Well, that was rather a coincidence,” she muttered, feeling slightly embarrassed. It was a coincidence though, this was a fact. Everything had been just fine until this man had showed up. It was kind of strange… It was just as the man had warned her about falling that the branch broke, and it was too much of a coincidence to be ignored. Anna might have thought more about this, but it was then that the cold wind started to blow again, this time bringing with it the scent of the man in front of her. She was close enough now to smell him. Anna wrinkled her nose, surprised at the scent he gave off. He wasn’t a human, that much was quickly clear. But he wasn’t a wolf like her either. He was…something else. It was a scent she had never smelled before. [/blockquote]

Still He watched, and waited for the moment when the branch would snap, had he not told her that she would fall? yet she refused to listen, so a lesson was in order, perhaps now she would listen in future? Kaname smirked softly watching the girls expression flash, from disbelief to possible fear, although there was still no scent of fear, yet it was there if only just. The girl jumped from the now falling branch onto another, that snapped instantly under the impact.
Then, in the next moment she hit the floor at what looked like a fairly awkward position. Still Kaname stood there idly, looking down to the girl, whom sat on the floor, and who turned her large wide eyes up to look to him. To which Kaname returned her gaze, his expression calm and unreadable like always. Thanks for catching me, The girl stated, although he detected the irritated and sarcastic tone, he remained collected, and simply surveyed the girl for a long moment as she continued to complain about the fall, when she commented about it being a coincidence.
His smile, was a slow vampuric gleam, the tips of his sharp canines obvious before he spoke, his tone smooth and sleek "I did say that you would fall, why did you not listen?" he questioned before he moved closer to wards the girl, and then knelt before her, his long hand rested across his knee, "Perhaps you will listen now" he stated before he then stood, as he did he gently took her hands and held them with such care and hauled her to her effortlessly to her feet, yet his hands supported the majority of her weight.
"You will heal quickly." He stated without any real concern, once she was mostly standing. Kaname let the girl go, and waited, watching her, to make sure that she found her feet well enough. He knew that she was not human, that much was obvious, for one she did not hold the scent of a human, and for another, she was in very little pain, had she been human, he would of imagined that she would of been in a lot more pain, possibly screaming, amusing and satisfying as that thought sounded. “I did say that you would fall, why did you not listen? Perhaps you will listen now.”
As the man spoke, Anna saw his fangs for the first time. It was as she studied his seemingly perfect face that she noticed them. She barely heard what he’d said, eyes fixated on the two small white objects. She tilted her head to the side curiously. Fangs? This confirmed her previous suspicions though. It meant that he was not human, just as she had suspected. But if he was not human, than what was he? She couldn’t tell. He wasn’t like her, but he wasn’t a human either. What did that leave her with?
Before Anna’s thoughts had time to progress any farther, she saw the male kneeling down in front of her. She stared at him for a moment, large brown eyes studying him closely. They flickered over his pale face carefully. Then he stood again, and as he did so, he pulled her to her feet. There! That was more like it! Now, if only he could have been such a gentleman a few moments earlier and caught her as she fell. Then she wouldn’t have hurt her foot. Then again, she was still suspicious that he might have had something to do with the fall. She wasn’t sure what, but there was something about him that just didn’t seem quite right.
“You will heal quickly,” he said quietly.
Could he tell what she was? Did he know that she was a wolf? “How do you know?” Anna demanded, eyes narrowing suspiciously. She stood awkwardly, one foot taking most of her weight, the other held off the ground. It hurt a lot, but the man was right. She would heal quickly. It would probably take a human weeks to recover from this little fall, but if she was lucky within a day or two she would be fully better. “What are you anyway?” Anna asked after a small hesitation. She was curious now, more so than before, and she couldn’t stop herself from asking. “I know you aren’t human.”
The wind blew again, this time bringing with it the rain. With a loud clap of thunder, the clouds broke, releasing the water they had been holding in. Anna looked up at the sky, feeling the cold droplets strike gently against her face. She shivered at the coldness of the rain. Despite its discomfort, she still found it soothing though, and rather than running for cover under one of the trees, she just stood there, not moving. She closed her eyes, letting out a soft sigh as the water ran over her skin, dampened her hair, soaked her blue dress. [/blockquote]

As he gazed to the girl who stood with obvious effort, her gaze was curious yet there was still no fear present in general over all being, which was odd considering, none the less Kaname stood their still, his hands clasped together as he studied her. When he told her that she would heal quickly he was not surprised by her reaction of lack of, although he noted that she had become somewhat more weary of him, and that was defiantly wise of her, perhaps she would now listen. He didn't like people who didn't listen.
How do you know? Anna demanded of him Kaname simply smiled a fraction. His posture remained tall and elegant, his expression too remained unreadable, perhaps too calm. Too careless. "The same way you know that I am not human." he stated his voice much like his expression he wore at the current moment. Kaname, neither offered too much or too little, he offered all that was needed, without explanation, he always often answered a question with another question or a riddle that would leave that person deep in thought, allow that person time to consider things.
What are you anyway? I know you aren’t human. Anna commented confirming his earlier comment. With a half smile, amused almost Kaname looked to her. "Something your are not familiar with, something you do not wish to know." Kaname added, as he templed his fingertips slightly together before him. He watched Anna as the air stirred around them the rain didn't affect him, why would it? Although he could certainly see that the rain as well as the cold weather was affecting Anna. She was an odd child, to bold and fearless for her own good, it would only get her into trouble in the future much like it had now, he had warned her..
Casting his almost obsolete gaze to wards the sky, the rain continued to pour door, the wind continued to carry dead leaves and foliage around them, with each passing moment Anna was getting colder. Looking back to her Kaname spoke softly. His tone gentle. "You should move out of the wind, we can't have you getting cold now." Kaname commented slowly he turned around he had only come to investigate that voice, that he now realized belonged to the girl Anna. As he walked away a fraction he paused glancing over his shoulder he spoke to her. "The storm is due to progress, I suggest you find shelter and soon.." He stated as he continued to walk away, but not before he slipped his hands into his deep pockets.

“The same way you know that I am not human.”
“Wha?” Anna just stared at the man in front of her blankly, a little confused. The way she knew he wasn’t human was by his scent. It was strange, different, one she was not familiar with. Could he smell her scent too? She supposed it was possible, if he wasn’t human. This thought caused a quiet gasp to leave her lips. Did he know? Know what she was? That made her shiver a little. Before she could think too much of it though, the man was already speaking again, speaking in that calm and collected voice that was slightly annoying. She didn’t know why it was annoying, but it was. Maybe it was because when he spoke, his tone was void of all emotion, all feeling. It was just a voice, an empty voice.
"You should move out of the wind, we can't have you getting cold now. The storm is due to progress, I suggest you find shelter and soon.."
The words were spoken softly, gently, but Anna knew he didn’t actually harbor any real concern for her. She could tell that much easily. She narrowed her eyes, watching as the man began to walk away. She stared at his back for a few moments, stood there in the rain, letting it soak her. She didn’t mind the water too much, though he was right...she was getting cold. A small shiver passed through her as the water soaked through her clothing, and her lips pushed out in a small pout. She found herself missing the warmer months of summer. Oh, how she had loved those little storms. Why must it be so cold now? Why did the weather have to change so dramatically? The girl frowned up at the sky, blinking as water splashed into her eyes, hugging her arms around her body in a pathetic attempt to stay warm.
“Hey!” she called after the man, taking a few steps forward. Her dress was heavy, drenched with water now, and she had to hike it up as she followed after him. She hesitated slightly in her step, wondering if this was really a good idea. She didn’t particularly want to be left here alone though. She didn’t even know his name yet, and meeting new people was something that Anna was quite fond of. It was fun to play a round with new names, new faces. The townspeople were just so...boring.
“Y-You can’t just leave me out here.” She made her voice a little weaker this time, on purpose. “You see...I’m lost...and...I-I don’t really know where I am…” She trailed off, biting her lip, and then lifting her big brown eyes up to the man beside her. She wasn’t actually lost, but she thought it sounded like a good idea. She was bored, and she didn’t want to go home yet, so perhaps if she tagged along with this man, pretending she was a little lost girl, he’d let her stay. Anna seemed to rethink this plan as she gently tugged at the sleeve of his shirt. She doubted that he would be someone who cared about a poor little lost girl, but it never hurt to try, right? Besides, she hadn’t gotten to use her acting skills in quite some time now. It was always fun to pretend to be something you were not, to tell little small lies to people, harmless ones that couldn’t hurt anybody.
