Elladan The Wanderer
~ Not all those who wander are lost ~
~ Not all those who wander are lost ~
NAME: Elladan Myhir
AGE: 169
GENDER: Male
RACE: Elf
OCCUPATION: Wandering protector of the woodlands
REGION: The Land of Astale
ERA: Medieval
POWER:
Blessing of Gaia ~ Elladan, since birth, has had a strong connection with nature. It sustains him in a way that nothing else can, and he feels deeply connected to it, as if it were a part of him. As such, he seems to have a natural affinity with the forest, and knows his way around instinctively. He is aware of others presence around him, seeming to have some way to commune with the wild, and it appears as though he is unable to get lost. Untamed creatures are drawn to him, and they trust him implicitly, having a way to communicate emotions to him, impossible for others to understand.
Herbal and Druidic Alchemy ~ While Elladan knows very little magic, unlike many of his kin, he is skilled in the Druidic arts. He is well versed in herbology, knowing numerous plants and herbs, and can combine them to create healing balms or damaging poisons.
Combat training ~ Elladan has undergone combat training since birth, and has, over the century he has lived, had much experience in the art of war. He is a highly skilled warrior, and while he may not look a strong or challenging opponent, he is surprisingly powerful, and tends to use his incredible agility where his strength fails him.
EQUIPMENT:
Long sword ~ Crafted at his own hand, Elladan fashioned his own sword to meet his own needs. Preferring to use speed and agility rather than brute strength in battle, the blade of the weapon is much longer than that of most one handed swords, reaching almost three feet in length, allowing him to put greater distance between him and his opponent. Beyond it's somewhat unusual size, the weapon is nothing special, and its simplicity shows Elladan's love of function over appearance.
Sheild ~ Elladan carries a small, light shield, it's front emblazoned with the sign of the tribe from which he originates. Being slightly smaller than his body, and not the sturdiest of shields, it is used mainly in the misdirection of attacks, rather than in blocking them, as it cannot withstand numerous direct hits.
Elven armour ~ Under his green elven robes, Elladan wears a light sheet of Elven chain mail, a thin piece of armour namely used to protect him against light attacks should his shield fail him. On his wrists he wears thick leather greaves for similar reasons.
Herb pouch ~ Being a wanderer and a lover of Druidic alchemy, Elladan is known to carry a small herb pouch at his belt, normally full of numerous types of foliage used to create certain balms and potions.
Hasufel {click me for image} ~ Hasufel is Elladan's loyal horse, and the pair seem to have a strange connection, to the point that Elladan no longer needs to give his horse instructions, but merely think a command to have the horse do it. He acts as both a mode of transport and a barer of Elladan's armaments and items.
LIKES:
~ Nature; he has a natural connection to it, and feels much calmer when wandering the forests.
~ Sparring; so long as no-one is injured, the occasional sparring session can be fun and beneficial to keep up his skill with a sword.
~ Solitude; he can stand little company for long, others personalities often annoying him.
~ Hasufel; his loyal horse is the only company he can stand.
~ Fighting for a cause; Elladan does not like fighting unless it is for some good. He hopes others gain from battles he enters.
DISLIKES:
~ Drow; the natural enemies of the elves, he finds their mere existence an annoyance.
~ Senseless war; people should not fight unless it is for the good of others.
~ Women; nothing good ever comes from women. They can mess with men's hearts and heads.
~ Unnecessary noise; liking the natural harmonies of the forest, people's voices often distract him from the peace nature offers him.
~ Being in the same place for too long; he likes to be constantly moving, feeling tied down if he is forced to stay somewhere too long against his will.
FEARS:
~ Humans; they destroy everything they touch.
~ The end of the Elven race; he adores his people, and has worked too hard to protect his lands to see them fall to ruin.
SECRET:
~ Despite his skill in combat, Elladan doesn't enjoy fighting, and will do his best to avoid it. However, over the century he has lived, he has come to realize there is not often many ways around it.
PERSONALITY:
~ Solitary; Elladan appears a somewhat withdrawn soul, most remarking at how much time he spends alone, with nothing but the company of his horse and the creatures of the woodlands he wanders. A lover of solitude, he dislikes the presence of others, finding them both annoying and distracting. He puts it down to his being raised as a warrior, an occupation where he only needs to deal with others when attempting to kill them.
~ Speaks his mind; lacking many of the social graces elves are in fact renowned for, Elladan often appears rude to those that stumble across him. He seems to have no filter between his brain and his mouth, and if he is thinking something, he will remark upon it, no matter whose feelings he stands to hurt.
~ Doesn't like to show weakness; no matter how badly he may be injured, or how many times he fails in the same field, Elladan will not accept the aid of another. He could be bleeding, broken, and near dead, but he will always push others away, demanding to either keep fighting or to heal his own wounds.
~ Determined; nothing gets in Elladan's way for long. No matter how many times he is beaten down, he will always rise back up to try and keep fighting. Being neither that strong or that fast, it is what makes him an exceptional soldier; his ability to just keep going.
~ Selfless; everything Elladan does, he does for others. Despite his gruff demeanour, he is actually a remarkably caring person, with a very social mind and a strong moral code. He will not ignore those that need his help, and he will fight for anything he believes is a good cause.
HISTORY:
Elladan was born into a war-like Elven clan at the peak of the Elven-Drow war. He was not given a 'childhood', his parents raising him to fight and nothing more. He knew little of affection, of social graces, but what he lacked in etiquette he made up for in sword skill.
By the time he reached his early 20's, young for an elf, he was a full blown soldier, seconding his father as captain of one of many Elven regiments. He was often seen in the thick of battle, fighting his enemies with a reckless abandon strange for one of his somewhat diminutive stature.
As the war continued, both sides suffered huge casualties, and Elladan lost many friends and allies. He discovered that the only way not to be overcome by the grief of constant loss was to distance himself from people, and he became a very solitary being, doing his best to detach himself from any emotional attachments he may have felt toward others. He did, however, become a little too good at it, and when his father was taken in the midst of battle, Elladan felt not the slightest tug at his heartstrings.
Becoming the commander of his father's former unit, Elladan continued to lead them until the war came to an end, his race victorious over the Drow, banishing them back to the outlands. However, despite the joy of victory, Elladan could not assimilate himself back into a normal society. It was with a heavy heart that he realized, despite his love of his race and the work he did in protecting them, he had never known normality. Emotions were foreign to him, and the regularity of his new existence confused and unsettled him.
Instead of staying within the cities of his people, he took to the woodlands, feeling a natural connection with the noises of animals and the silence of the flora and fauna. There, he took a silent vow, to protect his people and their home constantly, from any threat, for as long as he could. Knowing his lands would always need protecting, he knew he should be the one to do it. War was all he knew, and never could he live a domestic life.
Since that vow, he has wandered the lands, fighting evil and threat whenever it should rear its ugly head, having no companions save his trusty horse, happier in his loneliness than in the company of others.
