"Carry on my wayward son, there'll be peace when you are done."
NAME: Jun Matsumoto
AGE: 17
GENDER: Male
RACE: Human
OCCUPATION: Zombie Hunter
REGION: World of War
ERA: Modern Day
POWER: None, other than his ability to consume his weight in sweet rolls and somehow retain his toned physique.
EQUIPMENT:
Combat Knife~ Jun has, since the day the virus was unleashed on the world, carried a service issue combat knife with him in case of emergencies, stolen from a Northern Factions outpost. Despite his lack of any real training, his growing up in a rough neighbourhood has left him fairly skilled when it comes to brawls, and he is smart enough to know to aim the sharp, pointy end toward his opponent and not himself.
Hideo Matsumoto's Dog Tags~ Jun, ever since he was a child, idolized his father, who died fighting at the beginning of the Faction war. Since then, he has worn his fathers dog tags constantly, his only link to his dead parent. They mean more to him than any other possession he has, and he would happily take someone's life should they try to remove them from him.
His fur-collared jacket~ Jun is rarely seen without his fur-collared jacket, his favoured item of clothing. No matter what else he is wearing, his jacket will always be worn over the top of it. It has numerous pockets, and he stores any items he collects in them.
Cigarettes and a lighter~ Jun's worst habit is smoking, and he is constantly trying to break it, but with little success. He tends to carry a packet of cigarettes around with him at all times, with the necessary lighter, a silver zippo with the kanji of his name engraved upon it.

SECRET:
~ He loves his mother more than life itself, but he feels that his greatest attachment was to his father. Now that he has passed away, Jun feels that he needs to be the family bread winner, though he isn't always sure of how to be the great man his father was.
PERSONALITY:
~ Aloof and Solitary
When people first attempt to converse with Jun they are very rarely left with a good impression. Often quiet, Jun refuses to talk to people who approach him, only engaging in conversations if he initiates them. He sees most individuals as a waste of his time, and will only spend time in the company of others when he chooses to. It can leave him seeming unreliable and egotistical, preferring his own company to that of others.
Due to his aloof nature, Jun spends much of his time alone. Even his close friends can be deemed unsuitable company, and he is often be found sitting alone, lost in his own thoughts.
~ Sarcastic Trouble~maker
Jun is a renowned trouble maker, and in the past he has been seen as some kind of pseudo-bully. He has always been in fights, even from an early age (though even he is unsure of what they are over.) His grades were always low, and he detests people attempting to guide or control him. He refuses to listen to orders on impulse, even if they seem to make sense.
He speaks his mind openly, and often directs cutting, sarcastic comments at people who annoy him.
~ Distant and Uncaring
Very few things seem to faze Jun, and he is rarely effected by the words or actions of others. When focused on something that interests him, he tends to be paying no heed to those around him.
He seems to care little about the emotions of others, and should he hurt anyone, either physically or emotionally, he will barely give it a second thought.
~ Amusing
Despite his many flaws, Jun can be remarkably amusing at times. When in the mood, he finds he has a fantastic sense of humour, and he is able to reduce the few stoic friends he has into fits of laughter at the slightest word or action. His sarcastic, caustic wit only adds to this, and so long as his comments are not directed at anyone in particular, many are unable to help themselves smiling.
~ Protective
Jun makes very few friends and cares for very few people, but those who are dear to him find they have someone who will stand by them through thick and thin. He will go to great lengths to keep those close to him safe, often risking himself at their expense. Loyal, he will not betray or hurt someone once he has formed a bond with them. The trait is strongest around his mother, his last living relative, and should anyone bad mouth even slightly, they will find themselves with his fist in their face.
~ Warm-hearted and empathetic
Those lucky enough to be close to Jun find that he is not necessarily as aloof or solitary as he may at first seem. He is very in touch with his and others emotions, though he often hides his understanding of them.
Having found hiding his feelings easier when growing up, he reveals them only to those he trusts implicitly, and his trust is known to be remarkably difficult to earn. However, should one become his confidant, Jun would be prone to random acts of kindness, and would always offer a shoulder to cry on.
HISTORY: Jun grew up in a poor neighbourhood, and was raised by a happy but unstable family. While his mother was a constant feature in his life, his father, a military official, was constantly posted away from home. Despite being his son's idol, Hideo Matsumoto found it very hard to get time away from his posts, and as such, Jun was plagued with an inexplicable emptiness from an early age.
Lacking strict guidance and parental attention, both parents working in some way or another, Jun often acted out, getting in senseless fights (easy at schools in poor neighbourhoods), joined gangs, smoked and did poorly at school. This continued through much of his early teens, and his parents were constantly concerned for their wayward son.
It took the death of Hideo Matsumoto, Jun's idol, to put him back on the straight and narrow. His fathers death at the beginning of the faction war shocked Jun into acting his age, and despite constantly mourning his fathers passing, and feeling inadequate, he did his best from that moment on to provide for his mother, who he adored. Dropping out of school, he worked numerous jobs, and did his best to keep her morale up even with the Faction war raging around them. The pair had finally found happiness, and despite smoking, Jun's bad habits had become nothing more than a bad memory.
That changed when the Virus was released, and the happiness the pair had found was shattered. When the dead started to arise, the Matsumoto family were under constant threat, and Jun was forced to become more militant in order to keep his mother alive. Arming himself with a service issue combat knife and his father's dog tags, Jun stepped up to be his mothers protector as his father had been.
While his mother currently resides in the safe zone, Jun often strays out into the old cities, taking his own personal war to the undead.
ROLE-PLAY SAMPLE:
Jun threw himself hard against the wall, his back hitting it with an audible thud. His breath came in short, ragged pants, his lungs straining to keep up with his bodies exertion. He had no idea how long he had been running, but the pain that twinged in his side suggested it had been long enough. Resting his head back against the wall, he inhaled, and then exhaled heavily. His eyes half closed, and he tried to get control over his breathing.
A warm, numbing sensation pulsed through his forehead, and he gingerly raised a probing hand, brushing over his eyebrows with the back of a loose fist. He felt something warm and sticky against his skin, and the hairs of his long fringe had been pasted together by a thick liquid. He knew instantly that it wasn't sweat, but he dropped his hand and looked anyway, only to have his fears confirmed. A long, uneven line of blood, overly crimson against his pale skin, coated his forefinger and knuckle. He let out a long sigh, and cursed under his breath. He should have been more careful.
Reaching into his jacket pocket, he pulled out a pack of cigarettes, flicked open the top, and pulled one from their dented cardboard casing. He put it to his lips, and then replaced the rest, switching them out for his silver zippo. Flipping the top, he held the flame to the tip of the cigarette, and drew in a long breath. It lit on his first attempt, and he inhaled a mouthful of calming, cancerous smoke. He exhaled through his nose a few moments later, feeling much better.
“That's better” he said to no-one in particular, taking another drag, feeling the rush of nicotine cursing through his veins. His back slumped, and he felt himself beginning to rest. One or two more of these, and his heart would be returned to it's resting rate, and he'd be as good as new.
A loud clatter from the alleyway he had emerged from only minutes before startled him, and he jumped, his body stiffening. Quickly pocketing his lighter, he reached under his coat, behind his back, and drew the long, serrated combat knife from it's sheath on his belt. He tightened his grip on the blade's hilt, and edged toward the walls corner, back still pressed against the rough brick, cigarette still between his lips. His mind raced, unsure of what he was going to encounter. He thought he'd lost the brainless dead a while back, but he could have been wrong. He could have alerted more. Then, it could be something else, maybe scavengers... Either way, he didn't think it boded particularly well.
In a few steps, he'd reached the corner to the alley. He paused for a minute, closed his eyes, and let his free hand find his fathers dog tags. He gave them a gentle squeeze, said a quick, silent to his mom, and, taking a long drag on his cigarette for both comfort and courage, he peeked around into the dark side street, knife ready at his side.
