Sasuke walked along the docking bay. It was his shift to patrol the docks, keeping an eye out for anyone unauthorized. His dark blue hair blew slightly in the small ocean breeze. The heaters kept the docks warm for those who patrolled them, not that Sasuke needed them. He was an android, heat didn't affect him and neither did the cold. Despite his 16 year old appearance, he was rather strong. His power over electricity was a great aspect to him, as well as his ability to hack into nearly everything.
Sasuke was bored. Nothing usually happened on the docks. He stuffed his hands in his white pant's pockets. There had to be something or even someone to entertain him. He looked up at the sky. There was about another hour of his shift left. Maybe he could find something to do then. It had be a while since his last 'mission.' He could always go to the training area to relieve some boredom.
He sighed, closing his black eyes. He opened them again to reveal they had changed to red. Sasuke scanned the ocean line. The data of everything within 200 feet of the ocean line was in his eyes. Though, only a light could be seen moving across them to someone who looked into them. Sasuke, however, could see numbers, figures, and tons of different calculations. He processed the data of everything he could see. Nothing abnormal. "Figures." Sasuke complained closing his eyes again. They opened back up a second later to show they were black again. "What a pain." He sighed. "Not that I want something bad to happen to the base. It's just boring and annoying to look over. Nothing ever happens." He wasn't talking to anyone really. He was just making a statement to himself. If someone else had heard, he could care less.

The wind blew hard, sending tendrils of violet hair around her face.Sam pulled her jacket tighter around her, zipping it up. It was colder than she had thought it would be. She didn't even know why she was up this late. Apparently though, she had dock duty with some other kid. Like it was really a smart idea to have to kids guard the dock in the middle of the night when they, well she, seeing she couldn't speak for her partner for the night as she hasn't even seen him yet, would probably have trouble staying awake. She just hoped whoever she was with wasn't completely boring.
She entered the docks, grateful that it was kept heated as warmth spread through out her body. She gave a big stretch and a yawn, rubbing her eyes. As she opened them again she found her partner for the night was already present. Was he early, or was she late? She wasn't quite sure. She was surprised she could even drag herself out of bed at this time and make the walk down here, and he should be grateful for that much at least. Needless to say, while she was cheerful and happy most of the time, she wasn't the best person to deal with when she first wakes up.
She caught the last part of what he said " Isn't that a good thing?" she stated with a yawn, before gray eyes trained on him again. He didn't seem to much older than herself, but she had seen him around a bit, and new at least, that he was an android. He probably didn't have much a sense of humor either, like allot she met. His name escaped her though, and she hoped she wasn't expected to know it. " Less for us to do, less energy to waste" She paused, wondering briefly if androids even ran out of energy? Where did they get their energy? Did they eat food like humans, or drink oil or something?
She blinked once, realizing she probably had a rather blank stare in her brief moment she spaced out. She gave a sheepish laugh, extending a hand " I'm Sam" she introduced her with the best smile she could muster at this time of night.

" Isn't that a good thing?" Came a voice behind him. He turned to see a young girl. " Less for us to do, less energy to waste" The girl continued. Sasuke blinked changing his eyes to red again. A light streaked across them as he scanned her. The data flooded into his view. He knew exactly who this girl was. Samantha Miles. Age 16. Sister of the late Aiden Miles. Though, that was all he had in his data-banks. It didn't matter. He didn't need to know anything else. She was part of the liberation and authorized to be here. It must have been the partner who was to watch the dock with him. Not that he needed the help. About time you show up. He thought to himself. He blinked again, making his eyes return to their black color.
"I'm Sam." She introduced unnecessarily. Sasuke sighed, guess that meant he had to state his name as well. "Sasuke." There was no emotion behind his words. "That maybe, but it's still boring as hell. Nothing ever happens, so what's the point? Even if the military did manage to find us, we could take care of them easily." Sasuke comment on her statement before. He was confident in his skills.
He was looking at the ocean now. It hadn't changed. It was still empty and boring. It would most likely stay that way the whole night. Sasuke didn't need to sleep, in fact he didn't at all. There was no need for him to sleep or eat or anything humans had to do to function. He was glad his inner power core charged itself. Only once had it stopped functioning, but lucky for him it was at the base and they managed to get a replacement and figured out how to do it. This was the only thing he had to depend on humans for. There was no way he could do it himself, since the second the core it taken out he powers down. He wasn't like some of the older models that had to be plugged in every few hours. In fact, he was the first to get an inner power core that could charge itself. This only made him even more valuable.

She blinked a little in surprise at his eyes, it was weird, but he was an an droid after all, she should've suspected it.Sasuke. He stated his name rather flatly, emotionless. He didn't shaker hand, causing her to awkwardly retract it after a beat. She wondered if this set the tone for the rest of the night, and if so it wouldn't be very fun for her, not at all. Though his earlier statement lead her to believe he hadn't had a very exciting time either at this point.
There was a rather, awkward, or what she found awkward, silence for a beat. Of course, Sam was quick to break it. " So...your an android right?" Gray eyes glancing at him. Even she recognized it as a stupid question with an obvious answer that she already knew, but it was something at least. A conversation starter. She was known to be a good conversation starter, but not in these late hours of the night. Or was it early hours of the morning? She wasn't sure, and wasn't sure if she wanted to know. What she did know was, they'd be out here for a while, this being the last night shift. Might as well get comfortable and make the most of it.
She took a seat at the edge of the dock, looking out at the dark water and an empty night. Yep, better make the most of it. It seemed there would be no trouble tonight. A good thing, but she couldn't help but feel the way her companion did. She was going to go crazy by the end of the night at this rate. " I see what you mean now." she sighed.
Sam ran her hand through the water, her nose wrinkling slightly at how cold it was as she proceeded to flick the excess water off.Gray eyes then turned back to the android ' So do you guys like...ever show any emotion at all?" A blunt question. But a curious one. She tilted her head slightly, blinking.

"So...your an android right?" Sam asked. It was a dumb question, but whatever. "Yes. Is that a problem?" He said. Even if it was, there was nothing he could do about it. He wouldn't care either.
The girl took a seat at the edge. Sasuke, on the other hand, leaned against some crates. His right foot was on the crate. The water gently waved back and forth. The only sounds were the sound of the waves hitting the dock and the heaters that kept them warm. Sasuke just stared at the black and blank water. "I see what you mean now." Sam said with a sigh. Why do you think I said that? Sasuke thought. His face a little annoyed. It wasn't hard to annoy him though. If you just looked at him, he would be annoyed.
Sam played in the water. When she realized how cold it was, she stopped and flicked the water off of her. Sasuke thought it should have been obvious that the water would be cold. The heat she should have felt was from a heater, not the sun. The water wouldn't be kept warm too. "Tsk." He muttered.
Sam turned to him. What did she want now? "So do you guys like...ever show any emotion at all?" She seem very curious of him. Hadn't she spoken with another android before? There were a hand full of them in the Liberation. Surely he wasn't the first she had talked to. None-the-less he answered her in an annoyed tone. "It depends on who you talk too. Not all humans show emotion, right? Android are no different." It was a simple answer really. "Though, the ones in the government are programed differently then the ones here." He added. He was more efficient then a human, but he still had less freedom then them. He was following his programing, even with the 'freedom' he had, it was still just another program. Sasuke sighed at this fact.

" Course not." She answered, giving her best friendly smile, though of course she probably wouldn't get one in return. Though kindness would be returned by kindness right? That was usually the case anyways.
Apparently not with this guy though, as the next words and actions were greeted with nothing more than a cold annoyance from him. A fact which annoyed she herself greatly. She was sure she hadn't done anything wrong had? As far as she knows she hasn't. She's barley said seven words, well okay she may have said a few more than that, to the guy and already he seemed to dislike her. Well she was of course starting to feel the same way.
" All humans do have emotions tough they may not show them" Her voice remained rather calm, despite her own annoyance at his " Is it the same with you guys?" Sure there were plenty of androids around the rig, but she never really talked to them. there wasn't much reason too. Her reason at the moment was boredom, and well he was just there.
He finished his statement, and she tilted her head again, considering this for a moment. So programming had to do with it? that sounded rather... aweful. Grey eyes moved back to him once more " So even if I tried to make you smile, you wouldn't, or couldn't?' Though who was she kidding she could make anyone smile! Ok maybe a bit of an arrogant thought, but she believed she may have found something to do for the night. Operation get mr.android guy to show some emotion (other than annoyance). She wasn't sure if it'd work, and it'd probably just annoy him more, but hey she needed someway to occupy her time.

"Course not." The girl smiled a big smile. Was she expecting him to smile back? Right, like he was just going to smile for no reason. If she really wanted a smile from him it would take a lot more than that.
Sasuke continued to stare at the dark water. The sooner this was over the better. "All humans do have emotions though they may not show them." Sam continued. "Is it the same with you guys?" Sasuke sighed. Could this girl annoy him more? It sure seemed like she had the ability. "That's what I meant." He muttered. His black eyes didn't move from their spot on the water.
"So even if I tried to make you smile, you wouldn't, or couldn't?" Sam added. He looked at her with a confused look. What is with this girl? Was emotions all she cared about? She was very persistent he would give her that. What was so special about emotions? Sasuke sighed. "I can, but I have no reason too." His glance went back to the water line. "I take it your going to try now? Tsk. It's pointless really. I'm not the type to smile."
He stood up as something caught his attention in the distance. He blinked changing his eyes once more to their red color. The white light streaked across the red once again. His body tensed, ready for action. A bird. He sighed, closed his eyes, and relaxed. He went back to his slouched position on the crates. Just when he thought there was some action it turns out to be a pathetic bird. He folded his arms across his chest and lifted his right leg back on the crate. Opening the black again eyes to glare at the water once more.

" Every one smiles at least some of the time, right?' Sammie tilted her head at him, swinging her legs over the dock. She wasn't sure how they made it through this hell hole if they didn't. Yes even Sam had to admit that this world, and the life they lived was a form of hell, but no one could blame her. Her life hadn't been easy, especailly since her brother's death.Sill she always tried to stay cheerful, just like she had when she was younger, and she and her brother struggled to survive in that slum of a town. No life was never easy, but she found it better to face things head on, and still be able to laugh afterward. It was how she coped. And of course she had to try and make everyone else happy now. Acquainted with them or not, the members of the Liberation were all she had.
He tensed and so did she, gray eyes immediate going out too sea as well with a sudden rather intense focus. Of course, there wasn't anything too worry bout. She gave a little laugh, and looked back at him with a grin " You know its bad when you get scared over a little seagull." she laughed again, though something told her he wouldn't find it very funny. She gave a little sigh, figuring this was going to be hopeless. The more she talked the more annoyed he seemed to get. She sighed, and afterward a thick silence filled the space, being filled only by the waves lapping at the dock.
Steel colored eyes turned towards the sky, becoming rather easily distracted by the stars. They were of course more interesting than the empty blackness of the ocean. One streaked across the sky, causing her to grin almost like a little child " Hey look." Though of course, he probably wouldn't find it all that interesting as she did.

" Every one smiles at least some of the time, right?" The girl seemed hopeful. Sasuke sighed. Yep. Apparently, smiling was all this girl cared about. How annoying. Smiling wasn't important at all. What did it do? Make people feel better? About what? What was so great about the world? It was pointless and not something he wanted to be a part of.
"You know its bad when you get scared over a little seagull." Sam laughed. Tsk. Being scared wasn't something he did. Androids just weren't programed with fear. There was no reason for them to have it. He was staying on guard, following orders. He didn't let himself get caught off guard easily.
Silence. Maybe the girl finally got it. "Hey look." Nope. Spoke to soon. Now what did she want? He looked at her. Sam was looking at the sky. The stars? What was so great about them? Sasuke looked up anyway. It didn't seem very interesting. But the whole thing didn't entertain him. He would be better off by himself.
"What about them?" He muttered. It was probably a dumb reason, but whatever. At least she was off of the smiley-emotion topic, right? Sasuke didn't care for emotions. They were a pain. What was the point? He hated things that had no purpose. Maybe it was because he was made with a specific purpose. He didn't know.

His mouth didn't even twitch at her comment about the sea gull. He'd probably say something about not being programmed for fear. Or even to be startled. " You know what I meant." she gave a little sigh that had a hint of defeat to it. This seemed a little hopeless. It shouldn't matter anyways. It wasn't her fault he was such a grouch, she decided with a slight wrinkle of her nose. She brought he knees up to her chest, resting her chin on them.
What about them? Gray eyes turned back to him, he had looked up as well. She gave another little childish grin. " Don't ya know when you see a shooting star you're supposed to make a wish?'[/b] she stated, as if it were important information everyone should know. Of course it was! It was one of those age old stories everyone knew, something that survived through the ages. It was nice to wish sometime, especailly in a world like this. ' Don't tell anyone your wish though, or it won't come true." she added in a matter of factly way, with another laugh.
Childish she may be, easily distracted, overly hyper and cheerful, but she was good to have around to lighten a situation. Though it didn't seem this particular situation would be lightened. He was about as emotional as a rock, and it seemed all that would come out of this was them annoying each other to no end. She with her cheerfulness, and he with his ever stoic expression. Still boredom played a part of it with her, and he was the only person around to talk to currently. And so she would, even if the conversation was one sided.
She looked away again, picking up a flat rock and tossing it at the water. It only managed to skip once before falling in with a little plop. She repeated the action, with a result that wasn't much different. " So, what brought you too the liberation anyways?' she asked with a little tilt of her head " I mean, how did you escape the U.A.S?"

"Don't ya know when you see a shooting star you're supposed to make a wish? Don't tell anyone your wish though, or it won't come true." Smiled Sam. Sasuke looked at her confused. "Wish? Why would you make a wish? There is no way it would come true." Sasuke never heard that before. Then again he never had a childhood. He was technically only 6 months old. The only thing he knew was fighting, hacking, and the like. He doesn't know anything about children stories or even being a child.
Sam started to skip rocks, well, attempt to anyway. She was only getting one skip. Sasuke sighed before shifting off the crates. "You have to flick your wrist more. Here." He picked up a flat rock and tossed it, skipping it 5 times. Not his best but it was just a demonstration. " So, what brought you too the liberation anyways? I mean, how did you escape the U.A.S?" There she went asking questions again. Sasuke searched his data banks. Nothing. Not a single memory of the subject. His face saddened a little. "I don't know. The first and only memory I have is waking up here. I was told my name was Sasuke and I was to work with the Liberation. But seeing as the Liberation doesn't make androids, I must have come from the U.A.S." He shifted. "Not that I care if I was kidnapped. The androids in the U.A.S. are slaves to the humans that made them. At least here I have some control over myself." This question intrigued him. He never thought about how he got here. Then Sasuke started to wonder why she had come here. Surely she had the full choice in the matter. "Why did you sign up? Because of your brother?"

" And how do you know Mr. Smarty pants?' she teased, giving a little laugh. She was quite surprised he had never heard it, but he was an android who probably hasn't had a very log life up to this point. Wishing on a shooting star probably wasn't necessary information for androids. What android even had time for it anyways? Certianley not U.A.S androids. They could. Theres no harm in hoping." Of course there wasn't. Wasn't that what all this was about? Hope for a better future. Though the liberation didn't just hope for it either, they fought for it as well, and hoped the best would come out of that.
" You have to flick your wrist more. Here." Gray eyes watched as he picked a rock up himself, tossing it out. It skipped five times. She wrinkled her nose in disdain, she refused to be beat by a boy! Or android that looked like a boy. Betcha I can do better." she grinned, picking up another rock and throwing it out as well. She managed three skips, but that was it, before it splashed into the water. She gave a little growl of annoyance and frustration.
Eyes then snapped back towards him as he answered her question. Having no memories must suck, but so would your only memories being of enslavement. She wasn't sure if she should pity him or not.
"Why did you sign up? Because of your brother?"
Sam blinked at the question, finding it odd since the android seemed to take hardly any interest in anything about her before. " Sort of. We had no where else to go." she stated. " My parents were killed in the raiding of riot when I was young. They hadn't even been a part of it." she stated, gray eyes traveling back out to the sea. " Aiden tried to take care of me as best as he could, but there wasn't much he could do. Even with working two jobs, there was still hardly enough money to support us both." she continued " Word of the liberation came around our town and of course Aiden jumped at the first chance. It'd give us some form of support, and a way for him to defy the government, get revenge for our parents." She gave a little sigh " I was ten when we came here, and in training to one day fight for the liberation myself. Well I'm finally old enough." She gave a little smile. Six years was a long time, she had practically grew up here. Of course, her brother didn't live to see his sister fight for their, or perhaps just his, ideals. She gave another sigh, heavier this time. She missed her brother dearly.

"And how do you know Mr. Smarty pants? They could. There's no harm in hoping." Sam laughed. Hoping was pointless, if you wanted something to happen you had to do it yourself. That was the only way it would happen. Right?
"Betcha I can do better." The girl challenged. She couldn't do more than one skip and now she was challenging an android? Big mistake. Sam tried again this time it was three. Sasuke closed his eyes to change them red. He calculated distance, projection, and form. He took a rock in his hand, positioned himself and let it fly. 5 skips then 10 skips. It kept going till it finally stopped at 20 skips. "You were saying?" He marked, a small grin on his face. He let his eyes change back to normal.
" My parents were killed in the raiding of riot when I was young. They hadn't even been a part of it. Aiden tried to take care of me as best as he could, but there wasn't much he could do. It'd give us some form of support, and a way for him to defy the government, get revenge for our parents. I was ten when we came here, and in training to one day fight for the liberation myself. Well I'm finally old enough." She managed a smile still. Did she really want to be here? Or was she following her brother? Sasuke didn't feel like asking. He looked at the night sky. Only about a half hour left of their shift.

Sam watched as he picked up another rock. His eyes flashed red again, and he let the rock fly out of his hands and out into the ocean. She counted the skips. 1,2,3.4,......20!? The young girls jaw dropped " No way!" That had to be some kind of record. Her famous temper finally flared for the first time that night. And over a petty challenge at that. Sam most definatly did not like losing. No fair, you cheated! You did your weird red android eye thingy, you cheate-" she paused as she noticed the grin that had broke out on his face, and her own anger quickly faded away, replaced by that childish grin of her own. Talk about mood swings.
" Ha! I win~ I got you to smile!" she exclaimed over excitedly, jumping to her feet. ' I let you beat me at skipping rocks, it was all part of my plan." Ok so maybe it was a little white lie. Okay a big lie, and obvious one, but Sammie would never admit to losing. She crossed her arms holding her head high with pride ' And you said it was impossible." She ave a little nod, grin still remaining, feeling rather accomplished. She actually managed to get the android, with the largest stick ever shoved up his butt it seemed, to smile. Yep, she was rather proud of herself.
She plopped back down into a sitting position, as it seemed there conversation about how each got their was over. She gave another little sigh, staring back out at the ocean. The sky was turning purple with the light of the coming dawn. Pretty soon their shift would be over and she'd be able to go back to sleep, which of course put her in an even better mood. Still she wanted to learn at least a little bit more about her companion before parting. ' Do you ever wish you weren't an android?"

"No way!" She seemed surprised at this. Sasuke was an android, built to be able to do what a human couldn't. Why did that surprise her? She quickly became angry. "No fair, you cheated! You did your weird red android eye thingy, you cheate-" She paused looking at him. "What?" He asked giving her a confused half-scowl. She jumped to her feet and yelled. "Ha! I win~ I got you to smile! I let you beat me at skipping rocks, it was all part of my plan. And you said it was impossible." The annoyed look came back. How childish. Yes he smiled, but that was because he liked challenges, even though she wasn't a challenge at all.
"Tsk. My eyes change when I process data. I don't have any control over it." He folded his arms and looked away. His face was turning red at his slip up. "And I didn't say it was 'impossible.' I said it was 'pointless.'" He went back to the crates and back to his pose. Face still red.
"Do you ever wish you weren't an android?" The girl suddenly asked. That was an interesting thing to say. "Can't say I have. It's the same as asking you if you ever wished you weren't human. We are what we are." His voice was still annoyed with the smiling incident.
